As a family, skiing has always been more than just a holiday, it’s a seasonal ritual, a cherished contrast to the sun-soaked days we’re used to. There’s something deeply satisfying about layering up in wool and down, the sting of crisp air on your cheeks, and the comforting glow of an open fire crackling against a backdrop of snow-dusted peaks.
For me, the mountains are expansive - both in view and in thought. They open up space not just around you, but within you. The fresh white of powdery snow, icy blue skies stretched overhead, and the earthy warmth of timber chalets always spark a sense of calm creativity. I’m often reminded of the rugged elegance of Colorado’s ranch style, its textures, its quiet strength.
That inspiration has found its way into several of my projects - rustic cabins with antlers mounted high, timber cladding that feels both grounded and elevated. At The Farm Byron Bay and The Range, these alpine cues are subtly woven in, where warmth meets wilderness.
TRAVEL NOTES
TRAVEL NOTES
Even at my newest retreat, Copperstone, guests often remark on the sense of being transported; Stetson hats resting among Akubras in the boot room, Drizabone coats lining the walls like well-travelled friends. It's mountain soul, reimagined for Australian soil.
