There’s something irresistibly charming about a ski trip to Europe - those tucked-away mountain restaurants, perched high on snowy slopes, offering sweeping views that feel straight out of a Swiss chocolate box. The air carries the soft murmur of foreign languages, blending into the stillness like a melodic backdrop to the scene.

Verbier, nestled in Switzerland’s Valais Canton, is a village steeped in alpine heritage and true skiing spirit. Its architecture spans the traditional to the contemporary, yet all of it feels timeless; wooden chalets that appear to grow from the landscape itself, their natural timbers weathered by snow and sun, becoming part of the view.

TRAVEL NOTES

TRAVEL NOTES

That mountain aesthetic - raw timber, stone, and firelight - has found its way into my own design work, especially at The Range. The two timber cabins featured at this estate echo the alpine essence I love so much. In winter, with a fire crackling and the stone hearth warming the room, those timber-clad walls feel like a quiet homage to the Swiss Alps themselves.
