We’re often drawn to the golden embrace of the sun, but have you ever truly surrendered to the visual poetry of the mountains? There’s a quiet luxury in the stark beauty of snow-draped peaks, a kind of elegance that catches you off guard. The crisp sting of winter air brushing your cheeks, the steamy comfort of rich, salty ramen warming your hands - it’s a sensory contrast as intoxicating as a European summer, only painted in a different palette. And it’s that difference our senses yearn for - the unfamiliar, the new, the soul-stirring shift.
Japan, with its cultural tapestry so distinct and delicate, offers this very contrast. There’s a gentleness in the people that disarms you, a graceful rhythm to their language that lingers in the air. Meals are not just meals but artworks - curious to the eye, surprising on the tongue. Every interaction, every sound, every bite is a whisper from another world.
TRAVEL NOTES
TRAVEL NOTES
I dream of seeing Japan’s mountains in spring, blanketed in blushing cherry blossoms - but winter holds its own kind of magic. In Hakuba, each mountain unveils a unique story, a different flavour of Japan. And then there’s Nozawaonsen, the mountain village that feels like a secret whispered by steam. Its winding, mist-laced streets lead to ancient onsen pools carved into stone - places where time pauses. I will always cherish the long, soul-searching talks with my best friend in those waters, tracing the meaning of life in the rising steam.
