Remote Satellite Island, part of the Partridge Island Group, lies just off the eastern coast of Tasmania near Bruny Island. It’s a hidden gem, teeming with local shellfish - crayfish, native scallops, abalone, and oysters. A small group of amateur artists, led by the inspiring Dominique Sutton, ventured to this tranquil haven for five days of painting, sketching, and connecting with the natural beauty around us.
The island, home to native birds like the rare, white-breasted sea eagles and the red-breasted robin (a sweet reminder of my roots in England) provided the perfect canvas for our creativity. We immersed ourselves in the island's serenity, carefully observing and interpreting the landscape on paper. The talented Sarah Glover cooked delicious meals for us over open fires, while we began our days with a bracing ice bath plunge into the chilly waters, awakening our senses and opening our eyes to the wonder of the place.

It was a few days of pure magic, shared with an inspiring group of women and I was honoured to write a piece for Yolanda Edwards' magazine, YOLO Journal - a reminder that we only live once. You can read the article here.
