Emma L. Lane

Growing up in the idyllic English countryside with summers in the Canary Islands, founder Emma Lane is the first to admit that nostalgia plays a pivotal role in her approach to design.

With a degree in Creative Advertising, Lane began her career in marketing, where she honed her ability to channel creativity with purpose. Embracing her life experiences over fleeting trends, Lane’s passion for travel sharpened her creative lens to form a distinctive narrative style, now evident throughout her work.

In her late twenties, Lane moved to Sydney, where the laid-back Australian lifestyle inspired her to redefine the life she wanted. A decade later, now with four children, Lane realised her desire for a simpler, nature-filled life. She relocated to Byron Bay to focus on family and pursue studies in photography, integrative nutrition, yoga, and meditation, fostering a creative vision rooted in mindfulness and allowing her to work on projects with a conscious lean.

Today, Lane serves as Co-Founder and Creative Director of The Range Estates, an Australian lifestyle brand. Through The Range Estates, she has launched projects including Copperstone, Highground, Skynest, The Range, The Beach House and The Farm Byron Bay.

Lane published The Farm Community in 2018, a collection of stories, projects, and recipes that reflect her journey toward simplicity. She is currently working on her second book.

Alongside her work with The Range Estates, Lane leads Emma L Lane, her personal practice where she brings creativity to life in interior design, brand direction, and curation for clients worldwide.

Her work has garnered editorial in the likes of AD Mexico, Vogue Living, Condé Nast Traveller, Belle, The Local Project, Est Living, ELLE Decoration, Wallpaper, The Australian Financial Review, Yolo Journal, The Design Files, and Milk Decoration and has appeared in various published titles including Byron Bay by Assouline, Still by Natalie Walton and A Home Away From Home by Beta Plus.

Guided by the notion "The Space Around You," Lane’s work effortlessly connects the physical and metaphysical worlds. A believer in the slow living philosophy, she combines natural and crafted elements to create spaces that blend indoor and outdoor living, using tactile surfaces, quality craftsmanship, and functional design.

“I always try and incorporate the outside surroundings and nature in my design, whether that’s in colours, scents or textures, as this brings a level of peace and harmony to the space.”
